Leg three of Manti/fishing trip.

Are we finally going to catch some fish?  I had really hoped so.  My plan was head back to Salt Lake on Sunday but considering our two failed attempts to fish on Friday and Saturday, we stayed through Sunday and planned to get our fishing in on that Monday.

The first thing we needed was some bait.  We had bought some worms last week but they didn't last the weekend so we needed to get some more.  We had heard the legend of a bait shop in Mount Pleasant so we went on a quest for it.  After some asking around, we learned that the legend was true but the bait shop is no longer in business.  However the guy who owned it, also owns this Stanley's triangle Lounge Bar.  We were told he might have some bait in the back to sell.   That made Stanley's our very first stop.
Unfortunately, he wasn't opened for another hour and we didn't want to wait.  We decided to try our luck in Fairview to find some bait.

The skies were wonderful on the way to Fairview.

We didn't even have to look to far.
No sooner had we pulled into town when we so this sign advertising worms for sale a half block down.

It was like bread crumbs through the forest.

These people had a cleaver set up.  You get the worms from here

And you drop you money into here

Dale started gathering up the worms.  He got about 30 good fat ones and I dropped a fiver in their money box.

I think Dale was getting kind of hungry.  When he's thinking about eating one of the worms that's telling me his stomach was growling.  We probably should get some chow before heading up the canyon.

The main Hamburger joint in Fairview is T-Cee's Dari Frez.  And that's where we headed for lunch.
My full review of T-Cee's will be in my next blog entry.

This old truck across the road was a curiosity worth investigating after finishing off our lunch.
An old man was sitting out on his porch in the home to the left of the truck.  I walked over to ask him if the truck was his.  He spoke before I even got a word out.

Old man - "That truck belongs to the guy who owns that motel on the other side of the truck".

Me - "Oh?", I responded.  He knew what I was going to ask before I even got a word out.   The old man wasn't rude but his tone indicated a mild annoyance about the truck.  I decided to ask him the obvious question.  "Do people ask you about this truck quit a bit?".  He quickly nodded his head in the affirmative.  Yeah, I'd probably be annoyed, too, if everyone kept asking me about something I could tell them nothing about.  I'm still curious about the truck.  Maybe I'll come back another time and irritate the motel owner about his truck.   He's the right person to irritate about it anyways.

Here's where I stopped to let Dale drive so I could take photo's going up the canyon.

A look back at Fairivew.

I probably took five photos going up the canyon before I realized there was a problem with my photos.
Do you notice a blue something that getting super imposed on the photo?

It's Dale's Sunscreen lotion that was resting on the dashboard.
It's reflection on the glass was getting making it's way onto my photos.  LOL!!!  Okay, so I ruined the first few photos but it could have been much worse if I hadn't have caught it sooner.

Boy was it a cloudy day up the canyon!

Pulling into Roosevelt Reservoir

Things seemed promising after I explored the area.

Dale getting his rod and real ready for fishing.

Yes, Dale, I am taking photos of you!

 The lake looked nice.

The lake and surroundings were beautiful.  We had a great spot to fish.   With everything looking so promising how could we fail.  But we caught nothing.  After sitting for three hours, I caught the depressing realization on video.

At least we got to see plenty of deer on the way back.  I've never seen a single deer at any time during my drives up this canyon.  But on the way back, we must have  seen eight.  The rainy weather probably had something to do with it.

This is the same deer as the one in the photo above it.  Here, the deer is taking off like a rocket.

Do you see the last deer?  Only his hind end is visible through the trees.  Dale was a little slow at getting the camera shot.

So even though we didn't catch any fish on this trip, at least we caught some deer with my camera.
