Browsing through Target, I discovered that the Lindt's dark chocolate with Wasabi was on a clearance sale.
It's surprising that this stuff didn't take off like Usain Bolt. How could anyone resist a Wasabi chocolate bar? Yes, I'm being very tongue in cheek on that.
Like many people, I had never heard of Wasabi until Budwiser made that crazy commercial about it.
I have noticed the Wasabi chocolate bar on the shelf in previous visit's to Target but wasn't brave enough to give it a try. However, with the clearance sale in progress and possibly the last chance I'll ever have to try Wasabi dark chocolate, I decided to take the plunge rather than pass up on this once in a lifetime opportunity.
I'm ready to go. Before proceeding, let me say that I'm not a big fan of dark chocolate. I don't see the point of it, really. The invention of milk chocolate changed the world. Why go back to the stone ages? And to combine that with something that I have only previously tried on on raw fish doesn't sound like much of an improvement. So I am trying to be really open minded for this. Okay, here it goes.
When first biting into the chocolate, it's not too bad. Fans of dark chocolate like it's texture and that is the first thing you experience plus a slight kick from the Wasabi. The fun starts after a few moments when you start feeling the full power of the Wasabi as your sinuses catch fire. It's the same sensation you feel when biting into an Arby's roast beef sandwiches that has too much horse radish.
It was all too obvious as to why the Wasabi chocolate was on clearance but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's not something I'd buy again but I'm going to be nice and give it a C-. I'm a big fan of Willy Wonka and this chocolate bar is just the kind of thing you might run into while on a tour of his chocolate factory.
